Biography
Rabbi Debbie Massarano seeks to form deep relationships with the people and the communities she serves. She works to help connect people to Torah, Jewish Values, and the Jewish people as well as support their exploration and grappling with the ancient texts and how to apply them to our modern life.
She has served as a Regional Educator for the Union for Reform Judaism. During those seven years, she consulted with more than 150 congregations on their educational programming. Rabbi Massarano earned a Master of Arts in Religious Education from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in 2013 and Rabbinic Ordination in 2023 from the Jewish Spiritual Leaders Institute. In addition, Rabbi Massarano has served as a Director of Lifelong Learning at congregations in Dallas, Texas and Omaha, Nebraska. She served as Jewish Studies Coordinator for day schools in Dallas and Seattle. Rabbi Massarano has written Hebrew curricula and Jewish Studies curricula for supplemental religious schools as well as private Jewish day schools.
In addition to her work with Ä¢¹½ÊÓÆµ, Rabbi Massarano serves as the Rabbinic B Mitzvah Team Lead at Temple Beth Am here in Seattle. She is the Education Coordinator for L’Dor V’dor, a consortium of six rural congregations in the Upper Great Lakes region. She is the school year Rabbi at Temple B’nai Israel in Petoskey, Michigan and serves as the High Holiday rabbi for Temple Jacob in Hancock, Michigan.
